Raven Kane - Biography

Raven Kane is a composer-performer. She is one of eleven children. Her father was a musician, as were her grand and great-grand fathers. In fact, Great-Grandfather Josef Vezina, was a great violinist in Russia and later founded the Quebec Symphony in Canada!


Raven started her music and writing career in the Chicago area, playing violin in the Youth Symphony and writing stage shows for the neighborhood at age 9. While still a teenager, she composed the music for two shows at the NewArtsTheatre in London, England while studying at the London School of Dramatic Art. Later, back in the U.S.A, she won the American Conservatory of Music's Farwell Award and the FoundationforArtsScholarship for three consecutive years while writing and performing in Chicago's Old Town coffee houses.


Raven's next stop was New York,where she played "Lucy" in "YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN". She also appeared on many national TV commercials, and composed the PBS theme song. Among her composer/lyricist credits for the New York stage is the rock opera "ATARIA" which was produced at the Goodspeed Opera House and was honored as a "Valuable Work in Progress" by the SongwritersHallofFame. She also wrote the music & lyrics for the hit "SKYLINES" produced at the New Jersey Theatre Forum, a LORT theatre.


Her L.A. credits include singing on such films as: Disney's TIGGER and ALADDIN; MERMAIDS, DAYS OF THUNDER, LAND BEFORE TIME, JOE VERSUS THE VOLCANO, MINDGAMES, MADE IN AMERICA, DRACULA: DEAD & LOVING IT, and GRACE OF MY HEART. She has also sung on the theme for the TV show "WHEEL OF FORTUNE", as well as on numerous national jingles.


Raven's album credits have earned her several platinum records singing with major artists and include recording and/or performance projects with: Cher, Maria McKee, Neil Diamond, Dolly Parton, Roberto Carlos, Alexander O'Neil, Eric Burdon, Leonard Cohen, Kenny Loggins, Aaron Neville, Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney.


For the Japanese market Raven and her producer/arranger husband, David Campbell, wrote the music for Space World in Japan, and the title song, "CHILDREN OF THE RAINBOW", for an international exposition.


Raven enjoyed singing on the rock scene in Germany with her Teldec Record, Silicon Valley, in Montreal with the rock group, Suma. In L.A. she wrote and performed with her own group, Vogue 2000.
Later she received rave reviews as NEIL DIAMOND'S duet partner on his World Tour, playing such arenas as: MADISON SQUARE GARDEN, THE L.A. FORUM, and the CHICAGO STADIUM. Those performances with Neil are featured on his "Live In America” album.

Raven's musical, THE ADVENTURES OF DENTON THE DRAGON, sold out all 1200 seats at La Mirada Performing Arts Theatre and is available on cassette staring Elliott Gould as narrator. SURVIVAL OF THE HEART was another of Raven's musicals which had a NY Workshop with the late Marvin Krauss producing. She is currently working in NYC on an updated version of her musical, ARTARIA with producer ,William Franzblau.
